DePaul Career Center is presenting Liberal Arts Week from April 8th – 12th. The Career Center is providing a new week-long series of events for LAS students including workshops, panels and job fairs.

The Illinois Emerging Writers 2013 Competition Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Award promotes creative writing while providing a unique opportunity and outlet for recognizing new literary talent in the state.

The competition is open to unpublished Illinois residents age 18 and over. Cash prizes will be awarded for the winning entries: $500-first place, $300-second place and $100-third place. Winning poems also will be submitted for possible publication in Ninth Letter, RHINO, and Quiddity magazines and Poetic License Press publications.

If you have any questions about the Illinois Emerging Writers Competition, please contact Bonnie Matheis, the Coordinator of the Illinois Center for the Book.

The competition will, once again, welcome poetry entries. Entries must be postmarked by June 30, 2013. Winners will be officially announced in early November 2013.
