The What, When, Where, Why, and (of course) How Much…
What: If you haven’t heard the buzz already, the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) is putting on their annual conference in Chicago! The conference attracts more than 9,000 attendees and more than 550 publishers.
When/Where: From February 29-March 3, over 400 presentations: readings, lectures, panel discussions, and forums plus hundreds of book signings, receptions, dances, and informal gatherings will take place at the Hilton Chicago and Palmer House Hilton.
Why: Here’s your chance to sit at the feet of award-winning poets and authors (Ha Jin, Nikki Giovanni, C.K. Williams, Margaret Atwood); get more information on the nation’s foremost literary journals (River Teeth) and creative writing programs (Northwestern University, University of Illinois); and, last but not least, improve your writing with workshop topics that run the gamut (Writing for Children and Adults, Publishing Flash Fiction).
How Much: As a student, if you register before January 23, then you’ll only pay $40 (after that, it’s $60). For a full list of prices, check out their website.
