Please see below for a great internship opportunity with the English Department’s esteemed poetry journal POETRY EAST. Please apply soon and then let Prof. Chris Green (cgreen1@depaul.edu) know if you’re selected. He will register you for ENG 392, the online internship class Spring Quarter.
From Poetry East:
Poetry East, founded and edited by Professor Richard Jones, is a literary journal that has published poetry, art, translations, and essays for the past thirty years. The journal has been called “one of the best current journals of poetry” by Choice and ranked by London’s Poetry Review as one of the top 20 literary journals in the United States.
Currently, Poetry East is seeking an intern for the Spring of 2018. The intern will gain experience in the publishing industry, assisting with proofreading the Spring issue of the journal and working with staff to mail the new issue to contributors, subscribers, and book distributors. The intern will also help maintain our smart-phone application, The Poet’s Almanac, which allows users to view the current weather report while pairing the report with a poem from our archives. Last, the intern will assist with book inventory and organizational tasks as needed.
The position requires a keen attention to detail, good communication skills, and a desire to learn more about the publishing industry.
To apply, please send a copy of your resume along with a brief statement of interest (1-2 paragraphs) to the Managing Editor, Meredith Ferrill, at mferrill@depaul.edu.
