The Flint-based Gothic Funk Press is accepting submissions for the fifth issue of its arts journal, The Paramanu Pentaquark.
The Paramanu Pentaquark features literature, visual art, music, and mixed media submitted as Images, Sounds, and Words. The journal accepts submissions created in a “gothic funk” style: experimental work featuring degrees of romanticism, darkness, depth, and swagger.
The journal will be published online and available to the public for free. Submissions will be accepted through March 31st, 2017, and the issue will be formally launched in July 2017.
In the past, The Paramanu Pentaquark has published artists from around the U.S., as well as the United Kingdom, South Africa, and elsewhere. Submitted work will be evaluated by three editors.
Gothic Funk Press has published Mark’s Hat (2014), an anthology of experimental writing by Flint residents, Hungry Rats (2010), Shattering Glass (2013) and Atlas (2015), by Flint author and Press Director Connor Coyne, and has organized community engagement events such as the Flint Area Scavenger Hunt (FLASH) and the Flint Order of Orpheus (FLOOR).
