Dept. of English Seeking 2 Undergraduate Student Reps (10/6/14)

Hello, Undergrounders! What a beautiful, sunny fall day we’ve got here in Chicago.

The Director of Undergraduate Programs, Professor Jenny Conary, would like to announce  that the Department is currently seeking two undergraduate student representatives, one in Creative Writing and one in Literary Studies.

The students chosen represent all English students in departmental discussions and decisions. The main job of the student representative is to prepare a report by mid-December representing the views of former students for professors going up for tenure or promotion. This report will be presented at two meetings, one in January and one in May. Student representatives may also be asked to represent the department at various recruitment events.

If you are a junior or senior English major, please consider nominating yourself for this important position–and see here for full instructions and details!

Guys, it’s never to early to start thinking about how best to build relationships that can prove advantageous later on, and a great way to is to involve yourself in your department. This is a great resume builder, as well, and a way to make student voices heard.
