Would you like to make a difference in the life of a 4th or 5th grader in a Chicago Public School? Are you looking to donate your time and skills to a worthy cause? Do you want to volunteer to serve the community but don’t have a lot of time to give? This program may be for you.
The WITS tutoring and mentoring program, currently seeking volunteers for the spring quarter, will give you the opportunity to work with a CPS student every week on Thursday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 during the spring quarter. During this hour, you will help the student with their homework and their reading skills. This is a great opportunity to build a relationship with the student and really make a difference in their life. The students really enjoy getting to work with a college student one-on-one, and the experience also exposes them to life on a University campus.
While the program started on April 3rd they are still looking for volunteers. If you’re interested in finding out more or want to sign up, please email Tovah Burstein (firstname.lastname@example.org).
