This Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival, the latest Wes Anderson Film, Moonrise Kingdom, opened the festival to the tune of a standing ovation. Even people who “don’t get” Wes Anderson loved the film.
If you hadn’t heard by now, the film, written by Anderson and Roman Coppola tells the story of a pair of young lovers (newbies Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward) who run away from summer camp. The film is set in 1965, and is chock-full of a who’s who list of actors: Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel, Frances McDormand, and Jason Schwartzman.
Interested? Thought so. I’ve got passes to a screening of the film on Thursday, May 31 7:30pm at the AMC River East Theater. DePaul students should send an email to me, Angel Woods, at firstname.lastname@example.org. In the email heading, please put “Moonrise Kingdom Passes” and in the body of the email, a paragraph about a summer camp experience you had (day camps and vacation bible schools count). If you haven’t been to a camp, no worries, tell me about your favorite summer camp movie. Please include your name, DePaul ID #, and major in the email.
